Meet-Up

JS Meetup Sydney – Accessibility

JavaScript meet-up Sydney decided to have an event focused on accessibility, and I got an email to give a talk. The timing could not have been better as I had been recently working on retrofitting polymer and react codebases for WCAG compliance. This lead to many many many nights of going down rabbit holes and playing with shadow dom and shady dom across different browsers and screen readers. So the timing was perfect \O/

The night was jam-packed with a good line-up of talks covering different aspects of accessibility from the user, developer to UX. The main theme of the night that seemed to emerge from the talks was “”accessibility is a moving target”” and “”accessibility engineering is hard””

Big thank to Isabel for organsing the night, it was a great success which has definitely increased peoples understanding of the importance of accessibility and some tips and tricks around it.
